Silent Tears

She lies there hidden under the covers
With empty eyes waiting for the end,
Silent tears glistening down her cheek, and
Lips sending out a silent prayer for redemption

Her heart silently breaks
Her wet face is obscured
She is dying but none knew

That her silence was slowly killing her


There wasn't always silence
She had once known cheer
Laughter and mirth had once filled her life
But then she was still alive, 
But then she was more than just an existence


When her dreams shattered
She knew not that it was the end
She tried hard to hold on
To that bleak ray of hope


She struggled through many years
Hoping, hoping, still hoping
But her prayers were not answered 
And her patience wore out

Today is the end, she knows

She no longer has to smile 

When what her heart really desired 

Was to cry out loud
